The first espresso machine was invented in 1884 in Turin, Italy by an Italian inventor named Angelo Moriondo.
He patented a large steam-powered machine designed to brew coffee quickly for busy cafés — this was the earliest version of what we now call an espresso machine.

Affogato with Amaretto (Italian Dessert with a Twist)

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 scoop vanilla gelato or premium ice cream

  • 1 shot fresh hot espresso (BATSAM™ FORZA coffee beans)

  • 1 tablespoon amaretto liqueur

  • Optional: shaved chocolate, crushed almonds, or biscotti

Instructions:

  1. Place a scoop of vanilla gelato in a chilled glass or small bowl.
  2. Pour 1 tablespoon of amaretto over the gelato.
  3. Immediately drizzle one hot espresso shot on top.
  4. Serve right away while the ice cream is melting into the espresso.
