Decaf isn’t a modern invention — it became commercially popular in the early 1900s, when German coffee merchant Ludwig Roselius developed one of the first successful decaffeination methods and later built a major decaf brand around it.
Today, decaf has evolved into a quality-first choice: many specialty roasters now offer decaf lots that keep sweetness and aroma, so you can enjoy coffee rituals any time of day.

Cafés are leaning into zero-proof, sparkling coffee drinks — light, refreshing cups that feel a bit like a cocktail, but stay fully coffee-focused. One standout is the espresso tonic, a fizzy mix that started gaining traction in Scandinavia and has now spread worldwide.
Expect more menus to feature citrus twists, bubbly cold brews, and layered drinks that look as good as they taste.


Recipe Corner
Espresso Tonic (Citrus-Fresh & Café-Style)
Ingredients:

1 shot espresso (or 80–100 ml strong coffee (BATSAM™ FORZA coffee beans), cooled)

150–200 ml tonic water

Ice
-
1 slice of orange or lemon
-
Optional: 1 tsp honey or vanilla syrup
Instructions:

Fill a tall glass with ice.

Pour in the tonic water first (this keeps the bubbles lively).

Slowly add the espresso over the ice.

Add a citrus slice (or twist peel over the glass for extra aroma).

Taste and sweeten lightly if you like.

Stir gently once, then serve immediately.
