Sip of History

19th Century: One of the Most Sought-After Commodities in the World

Coffee’s global journey accelerated as missionaries, traders, and travelers carried its seeds—and their love for the drink—across continents. Planted in lush tropical forests and rugged mountain highlands, some crops thrived while others failed, shaping fortunes and even founding new nations built on coffee economies.

By the early 19th century, coffee had become one of the world’s most profitable export crops and a leading global commodity—second only to crude oil. Even today, coffee remains at the heart of cultures and economies worldwide.

Regenerative Coffee Farming

One key trend for 2025 is the rise of regenerative, climate-smart coffee farming. Growers are moving beyond simple sustainability and using practices that restore soil, boost biodiversity, and protect farms from climate change. Coffee drinkers increasingly look for brands that support these eco-focused farms—making planet-positive coffee one of the year’s most important movements.
