Sip of History

17th Century: Rise of Coffee Plantations in Asia

As Europe’s love for coffee grew, nations raced to cultivate it beyond Arabia. The Dutch succeeded in the late 1600s, planting coffee trees on the island of Java — soon expanding to Sumatra and Sulawesi.

Their success sparked a thriving trade and led to the world’s first coffee blend: Mocha Java, a mix of Arabian and Javan beans still enjoyed today. Nearly two centuries later, French missionaries brought coffee to Vietnam, planting the roots of another rich coffee culture.

The Return to Simplicity

In a fast-paced world, coffee is finding its calm again. Slow brewing — with a Chemex, AeroPress, or Moka pot — invites us to pause and savor the process.

It’s more than flavor; it’s mindfulness. Each hand-brewed cup connects us to the farmer, the earth, and the craft. This November, slow down, sip with intention, and taste authenticity.
